Equal
Employment Opportunity (EEO)
serves as a resource to management and city employees in
securing equal employment opportunity for all members of
the workforce. This is done through complaint
investigation, mediation and problem-solving as well as
the implementation of the Mayor's policies relating to
equal employment, sexual harassment and disabilities.
The Office provides scheduled training on general EEO
topics, as well as specialized training to City
departments upon request.
Employee Benefits
administers employee benefits, injury leave,
workers' compensation, unemployment compensation and
COBRA programs for 8,000 city employees. The section
provides employee benefits and occupational injury
training for each bargaining group, produces employee
benefits booklets for all city employees and manages the
city's occupational injury programs.
Labor
Relations
negotiates and administers all six (6) of the collective
bargaining contracts for the city. They work closely
with the departments and divisions to administer the
contracts and ensure compliance. In addition, Labor
Relations conducts disciplinary, fitness for duty and
grievance hearings.
The city has a
Drug and Alcohol Coordinator
who has the job of overseeing all of the programs that
make the city a drug free work place.
Quality of Working Life
(QWL) is also located within
the Human Resources Department, Labor Relations
Section. This program works with all departments,
divisions, and unions to make a better working
environment.
Citywide Training and Employee Development
The Citywide Office of
Training and Development provides appropriate workforce
training opportunities for all employees. Citywide
Training supports the Mayor's Columbus Covenant 2000 by
providing employee skill development that in turn
improves our quality of work and results in excellent
product delivery to the customer.
